Troubleshooting Transmitter

MUST READ IF YOU HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMITTER

1- Some transmitters (Spektrum, Hitec, Turnigy) are a bit tricky and have Special Instructions

2- Calibration in Windows is a must.

3- The red LED will stay ON when receiving a signal from the transmitter.

4- Channel mapping and reversing is done at the simulator from Main Menu / Controller / Configuration / Config 'A'

Check the Calibration in 3 Steps

It is very frustrating to fly a model with a badly calibrated transmitter. Follow these steps to check whether your transmitter is correctly calibrated.

Open the Channel Configuration menu from Main Menu / Controller / Configuration / Config 'A'

Controller Configuration

Channel Configuration

Step 1: Check central position

DO THIS: Leave the sticks and trims at the central position.

CHECK: Check that throttle, aileron, elevator and rudder all should read 0.

What happens if this check fails?
- If you get a reading of 1, or -1 for an axis, it is recommended to repeat the calibration.
- Readings of 2 or greater will make the model drift slowly. Repeat the calibration.

The yellow mark shows the position of the transmitter sticks.
The numbers show accurately the actual position.

Step 2: Check End Points

DO THIS: Move the transmitter sticks, pots and switches from end to end.

CHECK: Check that all axes reach -100 and 100 (0 to 100 in case of Throttle)

What happens if this check fails?
- If Throttle does not reach 0, the engine may not start. Repeat the calibration.
- If Throttle does not reach 100, the engine will never use full power. Repeat the calibration.
- If Aileron, Elevator, etc. do not reach 100, the model will never use full deflection of aileron, elevator, etc. The problem is probably in the Transmitter Configuration.

Step 3: Check motion smoothness

DO THIS: Move slowly the transmitter sticks, pots and switches from end to end.

CHECK: Check that the motion is smooth, that is, numbers should increase/decrease one by one, not in steps larger than 3.

What happens if this check fails?
- If numbers increase in steps larger than 3, then there is a problem in the transmitter configuration. Probably, if you connect a servo to this channel, the servo arm will move very little. Check the Transmitter Configuration.
