Graphic Settings

The Graphic Settings panel is opened from Main Menu / Sim, where the screen resolution, colour depth and refresh frequency can be set.

These values must be chosen according to the performance of the computer (i.e. processor, graphic board, display resolution, etc.) in order to achieve the maximum image quality.

Other important settings (such as antialias, anisotropic filtering, texture quality, etc.) regarding how each image frame is rendered, can be found in Windows Control Panel / Screen settings.

How to Get the Best Graphic Quality

Graphic quality is a balance between the quality of each image and the time required to render it. To obtain a smooth motion, a minimum number of images per second is required. AeroSIM RC has been designed to work best at 60 FPS (frames per second), although it can work from 20 FPS in slower computers. The FPS are shown in the Graphic Settings Panel.

The more the quality of the image, the longer it takes to render, and therefore less frames per second (FPS) are drawn. If the quality of the images is reduced (by means of reducing the resolution, the colour depth, the antialias, the anisotropic filtering, the texture quality, etc.), then more FPS can be rendered and a smoother motion results.

Resolution

Recommended minimum 1024 x 768 pixels. Increase selected resolution if your screen and your graphic card supports higher resolutions at reasonable FPS.

Frequency Highly recommended 60Hz
Colour Depth

32 bits per pixel colour offer better image quality although in slower graphic cards, this could mean an excessive load.

Video Sync

Check this box If your graphic card can render more than 60 FPS. By doing this, a smoother motion is achieved. Otherwise, leave it unchecked.

Show / Hide visual elements:
Close-up view
Engine Smoke
Flock of Birds
People, trees, obstacles.

These elements can be enabled or disabled from Main Menu / View, in order to reduce the graphic load.

Windows Screen Properties

AeroSIM RC uses OpenGL to render graphics.

Make sure that when you edit the screen settings, you are actually editing OpenGL settings (and not DirectX).

If the FPS indication is less than 5 FPS, then most probably the OpenGL driver is not installed. In this case, download the latest version of the graphic driver of your graphic adapter and install it.
